UFC 117 will be held in Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. This event will feature a championship bout between two of the best Middleweight fighters to date. Chael Patrick Sonnen, the number one UFC Middleweight contender will face the reigning Middleweight champion, The Spider!
Sonner fought 35 times throughout the UFC history. He already has 24 wins, 7 of this wins are via KO, 3 via submission and 14 via decision. He lost 10 times and encountered 1 draw. Not a really impressive record but this doesn't conclude that he will definitely lose against Anderson Silva.
On the other hand, Anderson Silva has an impressive MMA record of 26 wins with only 4 losses. And oh, he was disqualified once. This happened 4 years ago when he made an illegal kick against Yushin Okami Rumble on the Rock 8 Opening Round. That was a long time ago and we hope that he will never do it again, or else his undefeated record in UFC will be ruined.
Silva has never been defeated since he started fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. His first win in the UFC is via knock out against Chris Leben during the UFC Ultimate Fight Night 5 in Las Vegas Nevada. He rose to fame after winning all of his fight via KO since his victory against Chris Leben.
Silva defeated famous UFC fighters via KO. He defeated Rich Franklin twice via TKO, Nate Marquardt via TKO, James Irvin via KO, Patrick Côté via KO, and Forrest Griffin via KO.
His last UFC match is against Demian Maia during UFC 112 in UAE. He won via Unanimous Decision that time and broke the record for the most consecutive title defenses with 6.
So with these impressive history and reputation in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Mixed Martial Arts, will Chael Sonnen ever have a chance to defeat Anderson Silva? I can't conclude, but I'll place all my bets to Silva!
